This... this was an amazing night. Starting at 9pm on the 3rd, a torrential thunderstorm broke. Goddamn lightning strikes every five seconds the strength of artillery fire. It was bearable, for a time, as we went to the midnight showing of The Avengers – Which, btw, was INCREDIBLE. I loved the movie so much, earned a 4.5 if not full 5 stars out of 5 for the remarkable job it was. Everyone played their roles to perfection, and everyone had a fair focus during the length of the film. Every death had meaning, every action had flavor. And there was so much unintended comedy!
The Hulk, man. So good. And I am not a fan of his work.
So, the movie finished, and damn I'd pay to see it again, we tried leaving. It was Pouring, so hard. We left, yeah, but on the way to drop meself off, the rain was coming in sideways and made it almost impossible to see our way through. My friend, he takes bad weather well, and his poor car is a tiny little thing, almost drowned.
Well. Would've drowned. Every entrance to my neighborhood, which I thought was high, was flooded by at least a foot to three of water gushing up from the trenches. I could sail a canoe through the main road by my neighborhood, I kid you not. Well, if I could sail a canoe. The storm raged on, and we resigned to the idea that we'd have to crash at my friends house on the other side of town where, thankfully, it wasn't flooded 'as much'. Our driver was getting very sleepy. We all were, but he was driving. We let him sleep, and I think he's still sleeping over there. We waited for three hours – so, around six in the morning – to see if we could try our luck in our friends truck. Thankfully ONE of our neighborhood entrances has risen above the floodwaters. Alas, even then there were overflowing plateaus of water covering lawns and streets from where a creek laid in my neighborhood, but the truck made it through so we could be dropped off. Very thankful for that. … my friend still has his car here though. Hah. Carpooling can lead to some interesting situations.
And further yay, the main flood was just barely touching our driveway so we could make it in. The rest of the street was slowly receding as dawn broke with clearer skies.

So now I'm … sleepy sorta. Drying up the puddles that ninja'd their way into my basement which is Still higher than most of the community. Ah well. Nice day I say.
